 News and Updates

28th May 2006 - This new version of the XMAMEGUI adds a significantly improved ROM verification system, featuring a progress bar during the verification. The UI has been tweaked in various places to improve the look and feel. This version and all future versions will only work with Java 1.5 and above.

9th Janaury 2005 - A new version of XMAMEGUI is available for download. This version is far superior to the previous version, featuring a nicer looking UI and also a ROM verification system. To download a file click on the filename. Remember to only download the file that matches your operating system.
If your operating system is not listed, then there is currently no download available.
Please be aware that due to webspace restrictions previous versions are not available for download.

 Installation

Simply place the JAR file and lib directory into a suitable directory. For example, /home/user/xmamegui/. Configuration data is saved to ~/.parallelrealities/xmamegui/

 Running

These instructions assume that you have Java set up in your path. If not, please refer to the Java homepage to see how to do this.

Open a terminal window and type the following,

java -jar <installdir>/xmamegui-0.9-1.jar

Where installdir is the directory in which you have placed the JAR file. For example

java -jar /home/user/xmame/xmamegui-0.9-1.jar

Now, this all must seem like a bit of a mouthful, considering the point of wanting to get away from typing a whole load of commands and parameters to run xmame. Luckily, you can easily set up a desktop icon that will execute the line above (with your changes, of course). Once this is done, you can simply double click the desktop icon to launch XMAME GUI. In the event of updates, just copy over the original JAR file and carry on.
