The Playlist

This is a list of the games we've played this year and last. The games listed were not neccessarily released in the year we played them, that's just so you (and we) can see what we played and when.

A Very Good Game A Good Game
An average game A bad game
Very disappointing Almost painful to play
Uh... this is a game? A truely awful game

 2006

Project SnowblindGeneric boring first person shooter
X-Men LegendsTo make up for what is overall a pretty dull game, the developers added in a special mini game called Guess Which Controller You Have To Use For This Bit...
We ♥ KatamariWe certainly do.
Beyond Good and EvilThe best game that no one played.

 2005

Resident Evil 4Capcom reinvent Survival Horror in probably the best PS2 game you will ever play.
MK: Shaolin MonksPretty fun in places, shame Midway still don't know their own story. In 2 player mode, Shao Khan also suffers from a case of SNK Boss Syndrome.
Viewtiful Joe 2Henshin a so-so, baby. Silvia really doesn't add anything to the sequel.
ShinobiPoor camera and controls made this unplayable.
Viewtiful JoeHenshin a go-go, baby!
Destroy All Humans! It's OK. Would have been better if the whole game was more like the final section. Let's see how the TV show turns out...
Freedom FightersI actually just found this a bit annoying to play. Returned.
Haunting GroundInteresting twist on the survival horror since there are only a handful of enemies. And Fiona really is a precious, precious little princess.
Arc the Lad - Twlight of the Spirits"I'll never give up!" - Yeah, but I did.
God Of WarThe game Devil May Cry wishes it was...
KillzoneHad it not been hyped up so much it may have been better received since this is probably one of the best FPSs on the PS2.
Fallout : Brotherhood of SteelQuite dull and a bit buggy. Probably hopeless in single player mode. Also the dialog seems to have been written by 12 year olds, for 12 year olds.
Timesplitters 3Plays like the previous TS games but with some great added wit.
Lego Star WarsThe only bad thing about this game is that it is far too easy. Otherwise it is great fun, especially in two player mode.
Devil May Cry 3This says it all [Click link]
Hyper Street Fighter 2Even on the easiest difficulty the computer's cheapness has to be seen to be believed. The lack of Street Fighter 3 in the PAL edition is very disappointing aswell. Still good for a laugh though.
Ratchet and Clank 3More of the same really, except the humour in this one is the best in the series so far. Oh, the levels, weapons and gameplay are also top notch!
Shadow of RomeHeavily inspired by the entire plot line of Gladitor (even evident in some of the dialog!) this game is simply excellent. Hopefully Capcom will franchise this like the Onimusha series.
Prince of Persia : Warrior WithinLacks the charm of the original, features poor combat, bad camera angles, an annoying prince, a dreadful soundtrack and very little to actually recommend it!
Psi OpsFull of original ideas, well implemented gameplay and overall good fun to play!
Metal Gear Solid 3There simply wasn't anything here to hold my interest in this game for long. I preferred MGS1 and MGS2. One for die hard fans only.
MecenariesAfter the initial blow-everything-to-living-hell fun is over you are actually left with a pretty average game, one that is quite difficult to really get stuck into.
Jak 3After playing the hideous marriage of Grand Theft Auto, Ratchet and Clank, and Jak and Daxter that was Jak 2, I didn't have very high hopes for this one. Luckly I was wrong.
Dredd Vs DeathA decent Judge Dredd game for once. Not sure how well it actually sold but it's worth a purchase. Dredd's voice is spot on also.
Zone of the Enders 2UK Special Edition, huh? That basically translates as 'we made the game a lot harder'. Had to play it on Easy mode to actually get a realistic difficulty, still one of the best (if not the best) mech games out there.
Star Trek : Shattered UniverseThis. Is. A. Bad. Game.
Second SightA nice psi game with good plot twists, puzzles and a decent difficulty setting. Still wondering how Midway and Free Radical came up with a Psi game at the same time...
Ghost Recon 2Probably one of the most boring games I've ever played. Only kept it for two days before I returned it.
Mortal Kombat : Deadly AllianceSo so. The only distinguishing feature is the fatalities. Once you get past them you are left with a rather average fighting game.

 2004

R-Type FinalKill everything that moves using 101 different ships. A fantastic last outing for Irem's brilliant shoot-em-up.
Grand Theft Auto : San AndreasAnother great GTA game. Perhaps a little bit too much to do this time around. Think I managed about 80% completion though.
Ghost HunterI don't think it scored too well in reviews or sold well but this was an enjoyable game by all accounts.
Legacy of Kain : DefianceAfter the dire Soul Reaver 2 this was a vast improvement, although still not a patch on Soul Reaver 1 and still had its flaws.
Dark ChronicleThe game that Dark Cloud should have been.
Jak 2Naughty Dog were apparently not content with providing another AAA Jak and Daxter game. They decided instead to cash in on the free roaming of GTA and the results were... bad.
Prince of Persia : Sands of TimeProbably one of the best updates to a classic game you will ever play.
Ratchet and Clank : Going CommandoMostly the same as the first, but with new weapons, the edition of armour and more crazy gadgets. Excellent.
Warhammer 40,000 : Fire WarriorThe obsession with cloning Halo continues with Fire Warrior. However they also decided to throw in cheesy voice acting and badly realised levels and 'squad' battles. Oh... and a trip to Hell.
Final Fantasy X-2It's Final Fantasy. 'Nuff said.
Transformers"I was up till 4am trying to beat Tidal Wave..." - A truely awesome game.
Onimusha 3After two excellent games Capcom give us the (apparently) final part of the trilogy. And it's excellent.
Devil May Cry 2I wasn't a huge fan of the first game but it certainly didn't deserve a sequel like this!
Silent Hill 3Maybe it was because of the brilliant Silent Hill 2 but I just simply wasn't interested in this. It felt like it had all been done before, only better.
Baulder's Gate 2After the excellent first game how the hell did they manage to screw up so badly?!
Broken Sword 3Hideous load times, some pathetic 'sneaking' bits and voice acting that would often run into each other all contributed to a very painful play experience. I never finished it.
Buffy : Chaos BleedsThis could have been a good game but the combat and puzzle system let it down far too much.
Burnout 3 : TakedownLike it's predecessor, worth the price for the Crash Mode alone.
Red Faction 2Red Faction Poo more like (yes, I know that's a cliche...)
